🤸‍♀️ One last hurrah & addition by subtraction

Hey lovely people,

What a year it’s been!

Since launching Lead In Public in March, we’ve:

  • Published 42 newsletters 💌

  • Hand-selected 37 choice GIFs 😜

  • Written over 20,000 words 🤯

… and, of course - in true LIP fashion - we’ve reflected, learned, and laughed a ton along the way.

Which brings us to some news: This will be our final email for 2023 AND the foreseeable future - we have some other exciting projects coming up in 2024, so we’ll be winding down this newsletter and pursuing other adventures next year 😄

  • Cristina is launching a new weekly newsletter, Play BIG, where she’ll continue to share actionable tools, insightful frameworks, and inspiring stories to play bigger in your career. She’ll add you to this newsletter and has a special gift for you all for being part of the LIP community! (Feel free to unsubscribe at any time if it's not your cup of tea.)

  • Jenni will be dedicating her time to one of life's most rewarding roles: becoming a mother! Baby Boy Conner will be arriving in March 👶

Thank you all so much for your support, engagement, and inspiration. We're excited about what the future holds and hope to continue crossing paths in new and meaningful ways!

Read on for some of your favorite LIP newsletter editions + one final reflection. And if we aren’t already connected on LI, you can find Cristina here and Jenni here ✨

Also, if our weekly email has impacted you in a positive way, we’d love to hear about it! What was your favorite newsletter, concept, or resource?

Knowing when to move on, let go, and embrace change can be tough, but it's a necessary part of growth.

We're so grateful to each of you for joining us on this journey. Here's a look back at some of your favorite LIP editions:

We’ll leave you with a final “what we’re reflecting on this week”:

"When you remove friction, you add clarity."

This gem from Erica Schneider really hit home for me.

At work, we often focus on reducing friction:

➖ streamlining customer experiences

➖ refining design

➖ optimizing processes

Yet, when it comes to our own growth, we tend to default to adding more:

➕ more routines

➕ more goals

➕ more skills

Ironically, this endless pursuit of “more” can end up holding us back. And sometimes the most effective growth strategy is the opposite: subtraction.

As you step into 2024, think about shifting your perspective on goal-setting.

Instead of piling more onto your already full plate, why not:

  • Simplify your goals: What's no longer serving you or your future aspirations?

  • Revamp your environment: What changes can you make to easily develop the habits you want?

  • Streamline your decisions: Can you eliminate some choices to make decision-making more direct and less draining?

  • Align actions with your values: Are your daily actions truly reflecting what’s most important to you?

James Clear wisely said:

“Before increasing your willpower, decrease the friction in your environment.”

Turns out, often the road to clarity and productivity doesn’t lie in adding more, but in intentionally removing the non-essential.

This makes room for what genuinely matters.

→ What can you do to start identifying and eliminating friction in your day-to-day? What steps can you take to make your path clearer and more focused?

Thanks for being part of this LIP ride.

See you around!

Cristina & Jenni 🤸
